Previous hosts have been Ben Shepard, Fearne Cotton, Holly Willoughby and Konnie Huq.
This year they’ve gone with Olly Murs and Caroline Flack! And it’s really good, most anticipated TV of the week. They’ve completely Big-Breakfasterised it: off-camera oi oi!s, an abundance of in-jokes.
It makes you feel special, for being into the X Factor enough to watch another show about it. It’s brilliant. Flack and Murs have top bants, all the guests they get are total show nerds (like Big Brother’s Big Mouth used to attract). All the old acts that have come on have been suitably ribbed, most notably JLS whose Last Christmas version was mocked for the v funny “#cockneyvoice Merry Christmas” bit lols.
And also the best thing has been their attention to the newspapers, them picking up on Flack pulling Harry from One Direction, then everyone taking the piss non-stop, including Louis Walsh! When Harry was on the show, Olly asked him what his favourite category was, and before Harry could say anything he said ‘is it the Over 30s?!” (Flack is 31, Harry is 19) cue lots of laughs.
Louis Walsh’s best (worst) put-down was ‘Oh oh, Caroline, oh oh! When you get married, we all know which boyband will be playing at your wedding!” so shit! But so childish, silly and enjoyable like the whole show, well done ITV! ~5 years of testing has paid off! You have cracked it, who knew it would be this good! I would recommend heartily watching the next show.
