In Praise Of Tim Montgomerie
Two relatively exciting things have happened the past week, in relation to Conservative Home and its editor Tim Montgomerie.
POINT 1:
Montgomerie, who is a practising Christian (think “High Church” not BONKERS BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN), wrote in favour of gay marriage which was excellent! And very unexpected. He’s been bashed by his previous chums in a Tory Christian group he set up in the 90s. Those two words together normally spell BIGOT; what an excellent move for Montgomerie to distance himself from this.
POINT 2:
Con Home has also come out AGAINST the Health Bill, Andrew Lansley’s bonkers, unthought-through (sic) commercialisation and structural-flattening of the NHS, that gives all powers to GPs who by and large don’t like working on a weekend, let alone any extra administerial work (#banter). But srsly, the issues with the Health and Social Care Bill’s many faults can be read here amongst everywhere else. Great timing by Montgomerie, quoting 3 Tory cabinet members who are against it, one openly calling for Andrew Lansley to be re-shuffled, and head the burgeoning “Ministry for Cup and Ball”.
All in all, very positive.
